Sand Rivers Camp is located in the Selous game reserve in southern Tanzania.
In a beautiful position on the river to the west of the main game areas, this camp has long enjoyed an extremely good reputation.
Elegant public areas are in stone and thatch, with a modest pool on a deck above the water. The five standard and three suite rooms are similarly constructed and beautiful dressed.
Motorboat safari is extremely good here, with good chances of game along the river and relatively easy access to Steigler's Gorge. Vehicle safari tends to be quite gentle, with full day excursions over to the main game areas around Lake Manze being the exception rather than the rule. Walking safari offers good chances of encounters with elephant in particular.
Sand Rivers Camp is best suited to experienced safari travellers who are looking less for a hard-hitting game experience and more for relaxed and elegantly hosted time in the bush.
