Selous Impala Camp is located in the Selous game reserve in southern Tanzania.
Set in an excellent position alongside the main Rufiji river immediately to the east of the main gameviewing area, this small camp really is one of the very best options in the reserve.
Public areas are contained within a raised open-sided building which steps down to a ground floor bar and campfire on the riverbank. To one side there is a nice pool area, whilst the eight guest tents are raised on platforms above the river.
Motorboat safari is amongst the very best, on a scenic stretch of river and with a habituated bee-eater colony and access to the heronry on Lake Nzerakera. Vehicle safari is similarly good, although walking safari tends to be more gentle.
Selous Impala Camp offers perhaps the best value in the reserve. It is actually our favourite camp regardless of price, for its top location, simple but comfortable tented rooms and pleasant easy-going atmosphere.
