Jacana Safari Lodge
is located in the Queen Elizabeth National Park area of western Uganda.
In an area where many of the lodges are on village land outside the reserve, this lodge is wonderfully and remotely situated around a mysterious crater lake deep with the forest.
The lodge itself is rather simple, with open-sided public areas and swimming pool having lovely views over the crater lake. Guest rooms take the form of tin-roofed cabins with insect-screened verandahs.
Activities in the immediate area include forest and birding walks, fishing and kayaking. Further afield are game-drives in the reserve, motorboat safari along the Kizinga Channel and chimpanzee tracking in the Kyambura Gorge.Jacana Safari Lodge
is in a lovely hidden location. Generally positive guest reviews
imply that for many this is sufficient to offset the disadvantages of a simple build, damp mossy feel, high level of insects, variable levels of service and long drive to the main areas of the park.
