Andersson's at Ongava
is located in the Etosha South
area of Etosha National Park
in the Northcentral
region of Namibia
Lodge due to open in March 2019
Notice of redevelopment : We have been advised that Andersson's Ongava Camp will close at the end of 2017 and the site will be redeveloped to create the "Ongava Centre of Environmental Excellence", an ecotourism sponsored conservation, science and research facility. We are not quite sure what that means yet, but understand that it will still function as a lodge. The review below refers to the existing facility.
This decent quality permanent lodge is the lowest cost option on the premium Ongava Reserve and offers good quality guided vehicle safari and walking safari in the immediate vicinity, as well as longer drives into the main Etosha park. The lodge itself is in a modest woodland setting, has relatively stylish public areas, a decent pool, sixteen nice guest rooms and and views out of a busy little waterhole.
The main potential downsides are the relatively high prices compared with the budget lodges round about, the fact that the area is not very wild and that the tonality of the safari inside the main park can be particularly poor.UpsidesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
