Arusha Coffee Lodge
is located in the Arusha
area in Northern Tanzania
It is a genuinely upmarket facility in a very pleasant coffee plantation situation on the western edge of the town, very convenient for Arusha Domestic Airport which is five minutes further west.
The lodge is set on in large shady grounds and contains a very pleasant restaurant, where we have enjoyed many a meal over the years, both when staying here and when passing through. There is also a good sized pool. Guest accommodation is in 30 large free-standing rooms and suites ranged amongst the coffee plantation, their traditional tin roof exteriors contrasting with relatively luxurious interiors.
One of the best things about Arusha Coffee Lodge is their 90 minutes coffee tour, which takes you from field to cappuccino, really very interesting. Coffee is a big deal here in Arusha and the Burka Estate which surrounds the lodge is one of the world's finest small-scale producers.
It should be pointed out that the lodge is set alongside the busy main road out to the west and although the plot is large and the buildings all set back a good distance, there is road noise during the day, but not generally at night.
Most importantly it is important to realise that this lodge is not convenient for Kilimanjaro International Airport, which is out on the other side of town. Getting across town during the rush hour to connect with a departing flight can be a nervy business and best avoided. Similarly, when arriving late into KIA it is best to stay that side rather than travel across town, we strongly recommend keeping night time travel to an absolute minimum here in Tanzania for safety reasons.PricesSeasonsTrips
