Balule Reserve
is located in the Kruger Private Reserves area of the Kruger National Park in the Northeast of South Africa.

Situated to the north of the town of Hoedspruit, this reserve extends for an impressive 225 square kilometres of gently undulating Lowveld acacia scrub, bisected by the seasonal Oliphants River. There are no fences between here and the main reserve, ensuring that Balule is part of the greater Kruger ecosystem.

This is an up and coming reserve, an agglomeration of many smaller plots. Although many fences have been removed, the residual network of roads and telegraph poles does give it a slightly suburban feel in parts. A good deal of rewildification is still needed.

It does however contains a full range of animals, although wildlife viewing is definitely not as easy as in other more established premium reserves.

Lodges here are very competitively priced compared with those on other better established reserves.

Pondoro Game Lodge ... is undoubtedly the most luxurious option in this area,

Ezulwini Billy's Lodge ... is another reasonably high quality option.

Toro Yaka Bush Lodge ... is a much lower cost option, arguably one of the best value camps in the region.

Drifters Game Lodge ... is another decent quality lower cost option in a nice elevated position.
