is located in the Mara Talek
sector of the Maasai Mara
in Southwest Kenya
Situated 2km west of the main Talek Gate into the reserve, this reasonably high quality lodge has a stylish two storey mess. Guest accommodation is in 15 pleasant tents under thatch.
Environmental issues are pleasantly high on the agenda here and guests need to be okay with such delights as composting toilets.
Activities are centred on daytrips into the main reserve, plus cultural activities nearer to camp.
The camp has its own access across the river into the reserve, which saves guests from repeated transits through the unattractive and inappropriate urbanisation nearby.
Basecamp Mara is a pleasant and well-intentioned place, but in our opinion this location is not suitable for a high quality facility, it is far too busy and polluted.
