The Cape Winelands
are located in the Western Cape region in South Africa.

Although wine is produced over a much broader area, this region of absolutely beautiful agricultural valleys to the northeast of Cape Town is the real heart of the Winelands.

Whilst it is possible to visit the on a day trip out from Cape Town, we generally recommend staying out here for at least one night, longer if you are genuinely interested in fine food and wines.

We divide the Cape Winelands into three main areas, each of which has its own particular character. Most visitors choose to stay in one area and drive out from there, but serious wine buffs may choose to stay in two or even all three areas ...

Franschhoek ... is by far the prettiest village in the Winelands, very much the gourmet capital of the country and with an excellent range of high quality accommodations.

Stellenbosch ... is the region's capital, an historic and very pleasant university town which also contains a good range of accommodation.

Paarl ... is rather less attractive, but still a reasonably pleasant place to stay and with some particularly interesting wineries.
