The
Cederberg Mountains
are located in the Western Cape region of South Africa.

This wonderful and wild mountain area is situated some 200km northeast of Cape Town and offers some superb dirt road drives, outstanding hiking and mountain biking.

These mountains used to be home to the San people and their rock art can be seen in hundreds of locations. There are also some extraordinary rock formations and fascinating flora and fauna. If you enjoy visiting the back country then try to spend at least three days driving through dramatic valleys, staying at isolated farmstead and hiking in the hills.

Bushmans Kloof ... is the standout option here, a very high end retreat set in a large private nature reserve and offering elegant hosting and a wide range of activities.

Alpha Excelsior Farm ... is an interesting lower cost option to the northeast of the mountains and particularly well known for its bouldering.

Karukareb Lodge ... is another interesting lower cost option, this time to the west of the mountains and used mainly as a base for hiking.
