Central Kalahari
is located in the middle of Botswana, around 100km south of the Okavango Delta.

During the long May/Oct dry season this vast parched wilderness offers a remarkable contrast to the water-worlds for which the country is best known, with guests on longer safaris heading out here in search of specialist sightings such as pangolins, brown hyenas, meerkats and huge black-maned lions.

During the converse Nov/Apr green season huge herds of animals migrate out into these areas in search of grazing and a couple of days after a desert shower wildlife can converge to offer truly magical sightings.

The main potential downsides are the general scarcity of wildlife, the amount of work needed to generate decent sightings and the fact that safari vehicles are not permitted to go off-road to make the most of those sightings.
