Cheetah Plains
is located in North Sabi Sand in the Kruger Private Reserves area in the Northeast of South Africa.

Situated in a stand of woodland alongside a small dam, Cheetah Plains is a simple lodge with public areas contained within a modest two storey structure, leading out into a pleasant swimming pool area. Guest accommodation is in six rather small standard rooms and two slightly larger chalets. The hosting is pleasant and the prices are very keen for this area.

Please note that the camp will be closed while being completely rebuilt during 2018.

Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing in this Sabi Sand North area is reliable year round. The level of guiding here is also strong.

The main potential downsides are the fact that the adjacent dam is man-made and some people might find the lodge itself rather simple. The lodge also has a reputation for loading too many guests onto their vehicles. There is the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.

In this Sabi Sand Central area the presence of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, although that is true of almost all of Kruger.
