Chimoio
is located in the Central region of Mozambique.

The capital of Manica Province is the fifth largest city in the country.

During the Portuguese period, the town was known as Vila Pery and grew to become an important centre for agriculture and textiles.

The town lies on the railway line from Beira to Harare, near the renowned Cabe├ža do Velho rock.

During the political and social crisis in Zimbabwe in recent decades, Chimoio has become a major destination for migrant in search of work. So much so that today the town feels culturally as much a part of Zimbabwe as Mozambique.

The town holds little of interest for the majority of international visitors.
