of South Africa

+ possible to avoid visitor traffic
+ cheetah tracking on foot
Situated alongside a seasonal stream to the north of the reserve, this large lodge has well-appointed public areas and open grounds including a swimming pool. Guest accommodation is in 22 large and luxurious tents, making this a relatively large camp.
Activities are centred on vehicle and walking safari within the reserve.
- fenced reserve
- proximity to human habitation
- proximity to surrounding lodges
- rather large impersonal lodge
- only accessible from the main R40 road
- reclaimed farmland
- not particularly wild
- reasonably expensive
- high visitor traffic
- no private vehicle
On the downside, this is a fenced reserve and right on the western periphery of the Kruger area, which some guests may find subtracts somewhat from the sense of wilderness.
Chisomo Safari Camp is a decent enough facility which is able to deliver a pretty good safari experience despite its larger size.
