Chitwa Chitwa Lodge
is located in the Sabi Sand Reserve
in the Kruger
area to the Northeast
of South Africa
Situated in a pleasantly open area alongside a large dam, Chitwa Chitwa Lodge is a high-end facility with lavish public areas leading out to a lovely swimming pool and separate dining room, plus a spa and gym. Guest accommodation is in eight enormous and extremely comfortable suites, one of which is a larger family unit, all with unheated plunge pools. There is also the two bedrooms Chitwa House, which can function independently of the main lodge. The fact that the lodge is privately owned and managed ensures consistent and personable service.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing in this Sabi Sand North area is reliable year round. The level of guiding here is also strong.
The main potential downsides are the fact that the adjacent dam is man-made and some people might find the lodge design a little heavy and over the top for a safari camp. There is the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.
In this Sabi Sand Central area the presence of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, although that is true of almost all of Kruger.SeasonsPrices
