Chumbe Island Coral Park
is located in the Stonetown South
area on the west coast of Zanzibar Island
off the Indian Ocean Coast
Chumbe Island Coral Park is very unusual eco-lodge set to the south of Stonetown. It is a pioneering environmental conservation project on a wonderful pristine island with some of the best preserved reefs in the Indian Ocean and an incredible array of marine life. The island has an historic lighthouse, a large central building and just six guest rooms, of an ambitious environmental design. There is a lovely sandy beach, interesting forest and inter-tidal walks, plus fabulous snorkelling.
The main potential downsides at Chumbe Island Coral Park are the relatively basic facilities, simple hospitality and lack of things to do, there being no diving, no swimming pool, no great cultural interaction and no chance of excursions further afield.UpsidesActivitiesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
