, also known as the Republic of the Congo, is a mid-sized country in west-central Africa, which lies to the north-east of the much larger Democratic Republic of Congo.
With a land surface of around 342,000 square kilometres, Congo Brazzaville is about the same size as Germany or Montana. But with only around 4.5 million people, the population density is relatively low.
The climate zone for the majority of the country is 'tropical rainforest', although the actual forest cover itself has been heavily reduced by human encroachment and logging.
Congo contains some very important conservation areas, most notably a number of crucial lowland gorilla habitats.
But the country experiences very low visitor numbers, primarily due to the lack of tourism infrastructure and the extremely high cost of those camps which do exist.Trips
