Cousin Island

... is situated 50km north of the international airport on Mahe and 3km west of Prasin in the Seychelles.

This island is not to be confused with Cousine Island, which lies the same distance again further offshore.

This little island is, just 500m in diameter, consists of a single granite hill, surrounded by forest and with a stunning sandy beach encircling the northern tip. The island and the waters around comprise a small nature reserve and as such there is no accommodation.

Home to several endangered species, the island is an important breeding site for sea-birds and turtles. It is amazing to walk through the forest and see nesting birds on almost every branch, complete undisturbed by human presence.

The island can only be visited by means of a pre-booked tour, which is very good, if a rather restrictive.
