Curieuse Island
is situated 55km north of the international airport on Mahe and 2km west of Prasin in the Seychelles.

Measuring around 3km by 1km, this island was actually a leper colony right up until 1965. Only the doctor's house and some rubble remain.

These days the island and its waters form a marine park. The only human residents are rangers, who oversee a population of around 150 giant tortoises.

Curieuse makes for a popular destination for dive boats and day-trippers from Praslin.
