De Rust

... is located in Little Karoo East in the East of the Cape area of the Western Cape of South Africa.

The claim to fame for this sleepy rural settlement is that it was the original source of some rare pelargoniums, from which all our garden geraniums have been derived.

Most visitors blast right through the village, or maybe pull in for fuel, a drink or some lunch. It is a pleasant enough place, with roadside shops offering a selection of nick-nacks.

Most of the passing traffic is travelling north-south between Beaufort West on the N1 and the Garden Route coastline.

It also features on the scenic circular route northeast out of Oudsthoorn up through the Meiringspoort Pass, overnighting at Prince Albert and returning through the dramatic Swartberg Pass, a very interesting and worthwhile diversion if you enjoy driving through dramatic scenery.

We presently have no recommended accommodation options in this area.
