Desroches Island

... is located Amirantes Group, some 235km WSW of Mahe in the Seychelles.

The easternmost of the group, Desroches Island is named after the Chevalier des Roches, Governor of Mauritius and Reunion from 1767 to 1772. At around 5.5km long, it is by far the largest island in the group. The interior is covered by coconut and hardwood trees, ringed by fine white sand beaches and productive fringing reefs. There is a permanent population of around 50 people and a sealed airstrip.

Desroches Island Resort ... is the only accommodation option on the island.
