Emau Hill Forest Camp
is located in the Usambara Mountains
area in the northeast
region of Tanzania
If you want to really explore the forests of the Usambara Mountains then you need to stay at the Amani Nature Reserve on the eastern side.
This place offers the best accommodation, wonderfully located at the end of a winding track.
Simple but cheerful public areas are of brick under thatch and look out over gardens to the forest beyond. Guest accommodation is in basic tents with separate shared bathrooms.
Activities are centred on guided walks into the forest, which can be tailored to meet specific interests. The lodge also runs a number of community projects and plays host to some Danish volunteer groups.
Emau Hill Forest Camp is a simple but pleasant and well-intentioned place which can serve as a decent base for people particularly interested in the conservation of these ecologically important forests.
