Flycatcher Castle
is located the town of Graskop in the Panorama South area of the Northeast region in South Africa.

+ quirky concept and architecture
+ fantastic views
+ reasonable low-range accommodation
+ owner hosted
+ warm family feeling
+ individually themed rooms
+ modestly sized public areas
+ good food service
+ good sized garden

This modern-day castle sits rather bizarrely on a suburban plot on the northern edge of the town. It is the love-child of a South African sculptor and doubles up as an art studio and gallery. It has just seven very individually decorated guest suites and atmospheric public areas.

- residential location
- potential noise from neighbours
- potential development surrounding the castle
- basic public areas
- certainly not to everyone's taste

Flycatcher Castle is really rather interesting and we can understand why some people consider it to be an essential stop. The limited number of guest reviews out there on the internet are generally very positive, raving about the personal service, great food and eccentric touches. Other reviews demonstrate how polarised opinion can be at somewhere so dependent upon the character of the host. We just wish it was situated on some remote crag rather than at the end of a row of suburban bungalows.
