Fundu Lagoon
is located on Pemba Island off the Indian Ocean Coast of southeast Tanzania.

It is a chic and upmarket beach lodge in a remote setting on Pemba Island, a very beautiful tropical island with very low visitor numbers and a real sense of the old Swahili Coast. It is hidden amongst luxuriant tropical forest and has stylish public areas, a lovely pool area and bar, a spa and just fifteen tented guest rooms. The lodge is independently owned and rather fashionable, with a relatively young guest profile and a wide range of activities, including some superb diving.

The main potential downsides at Fundu Lagoon are the very high prices, the fact that it is not on a picture postcard beach. The lodge is quite outdoorsy and potentially exposed to the southeast winds Jun/Sep. Levels of service and food have historically been a little variable and extras can be very expensive. It is also quite a difficult place to get to.
