Gorah Elephant Camp
is located in the Addo
area of the Eastern Cape
of South Africa
Addo National Park is the third largest wildlife reserve in the country, unusually encompassing mountain, savanna and coastal dune habitats. The area is renowned for elephants and represents one of the lowest cost ways to combine safari with Cape Town.
Situated in a private concession area in the heart of the main wildlife viewing area of the reserve, Gorah Elephant Camp is a high quality facility which manages to deliver a reasonable quality of safari experience.
The lodge is centred on a beautiful restored farmhouse, with comfortable lounge and dining areas, leading out to a lovely veranda, outside dining boma and swimming pool.
Guest accommodation is in eleven large safari tents under thatch, with private indoor bathrooms.
Activities are centred on daytime vehicle safari, largely in private parts of the reserve, with a wide range of wildlife present, including elephants, rhinos, lions, leopards and buffaloes.
The main potential downsides at Gorah Elephant Camp are the high prices, the room design is out of kilter with the main farmstead, the less wild feel of the reserve, relatively low predator sightings, the presence of self-drive vehicles and considerable traffic issues in the public access areas.Prices
