is located in the Grumeti
sector of the Serengeti
in Northern Tanzania
It is an excellent mid-range camp in a lovely hilltop situation inside the relatively low traffic Grumeti Reserve area. It has comfortable public areas, a large swimming pool and 12 large guest tents. It is relatively well priced and is a closed access camp, which means that it does not allow access to vehicles from other safari companies, which can make for a much more intimate atmosphere.
The camp offers a relatively wide range of activities, including vehicle safari, modest walking safari, bush meals, cultural visits and night vehicle safari. The area usually offers decent wildlife viewing year round, with the main migration usually passing through May/Jun and Oct/Nov.
The main potential downsides at Grumeti Hills are that the camp is not necessarily that highly polished and that there are human settlements and lower specification lodges within the reserve. Also the wildlife viewing may not be as intense as in the adjacent Central Serengeti areas.UpsidesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
