High Nile Camp
is located in the town of Jinja
in eastern Uganda
This lodge is situated just upstream of the Bujagali hydro-electric station, around 5km north of the town.
It is actually under the same ownership as the upmarket Wildwaters Lodge
, much further downstream, both of which are associated with premium raft operator Adrift.
It caters for their budget-focussed clients, with accommodation in simple wooden cottages, around an often lively bar and restaurant with broad views of the river.
Most visitors are here for the white-water rafting, which can vary from gentle family trips to hardcore adventures. It is also possible to go out on a jet-boat and the original boat from the 1951 movie The African Queen.
High Nile Camp is perhaps the best option for budget travellers in search of a cheap bed but good quality rafting.
