Ibo Island Lodge
is located in the Qurimbas South area of Cabo Delgado
in the Northeast
region of Mozambique
Ibo is a small island located 5km off the coast of northern Mozambique and featuring a fabulous, fascinating and largely abandoned port city whose origins date back to the days of silver, slave and ivory traders on this remote coast.
This high quality facility is set at the western end of this sleepy backwater. It is contained within a range of restored colonial era buildings set around a lovely shady garden with three separate swimming pools. The main building is on two floors, with the upper deck containing a large bar and dining terrace with views towards the setting sun.
Guest accommodation is in a total of 14 rooms, all with classic high ceilings and authentic decor, as well as modern conveniences such as private bathrooms and air-conditioning.
Activities include guided tours of the old town, guided birding and nature walks, spa treatments, diving, snorkelling, kayaking, swimming with dolphins, picnics on the remote Mogundula Island, day trips to the historic Quirimba Island and multiple day explorations of the greater area.
Access is usually via the airport at Pemba Town, which is directly connected by air to Johannesburg. From there it is a short hopper flight to the Ibo Island.
Ibo Island Lodge really is a remarkable place. Despite not being situated on a beautiful and remote beach, it still manages to serve as the most wonderful base from which to explore this wonderful coastline. Truly different, utterly authentic and really worth the extra hassle to get to. The ultimate Swahili Coast experience.SeasonsPricesTrips
