Kafunta River Lodge
is located in the Central Sector of South Luangwa National Park in eastern Zambia.

In an impressive riverside position across from the central part of South Luangwa National Park, this pleasantly simple and comfortable camp offers a warm owner-hosted welcome and accommodation with an unusually high level of conventional comforts, as well as a swimming pool, natural hot-tub and spa. It is also relatively well priced.

Activities are centred on vehicle safari and night vehicle safari, with lesser walking safari options. Access is direct into the park by pontoon across the river, where there are unusually reliable sightings of lions and leopards in particular. The waterhole in front of camp is particularly good and there are also two good hides in which to spend some quality time.

The main potential downsides are the fact that the lodge is outside the national park and in a relatively high traffic area, is of quite an old-fashioned design, the safari activities relatively mild, the potential for rain Nov/Jan and the extremely high temperatures in Oct/Nov.
