Kambaku Safari Lodge
is located in the Timbavati Reserve
in the Kruger
area to the Northeast
of South Africa
Set in the centre of the reserve, Kambaku Safari Lodge is a relatively simple camp comprising a reception building, leading through to a central area with a swimming pool with views out to a waterhole and a nice outside dining boma. The main building is two storey, with a pool table upstairs. Guest accommodation is in eight block and thatch rooms, simple but reasonably well appointed. The lodge is owner-hosted and prices are keen.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari. Wildlife viewing in this Timbavati area is reliable year round. The level of guiding here is usually strong.
The main potential downsides are that the lodge is rather old-fashioned and heavily built. There is the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.
In the Timbavati area the presence of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, but that is true of almost all of Kruger.SeasonsPrices
