Kapama Karula Lodge
is located in the Kapama Reserve in the Kruger Private Reserves area in the Northeast of South Africa.

Situated on the seasonal Klaserie River to the southwest of the reserve, Kapama Karula Lodge has very chic public areas with separate bar, dining and lounge areas, plus a outside dining boma and pool. There are twelve expansive guest suites in three different specifications, all of which are very well equipped. The service levels are high and prices are extremely keen.

Activities include vehicle and walking safaris, access to elephant walking safari at the nearby Camp Jabulani, visits to the nearby Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre and a very extensive and popular wellness centre at Kapama River Lodge. Wildlife viewing in this Kapama area is reliable year round, since it is fully fenced.

The main potential downsides relate to this Kapama Reserve, which is fully fenced and very much detached from the rest of Kruger. We also find that the proximity of Hoedspruit Airport, plus the presence of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs do detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, even more so here than in other parts of Kruger. The reserve also has quite a high visitor density.

As with all lodges in the area, there is the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.
