is a relatively pleasant small town set on the southern banks of the scenic Chobe River just upstream from its confluence with the Zambezi in the extreme north of Botswana
The town is surrounded to the west and south by the famous Northern Waterfront
area of Chobe National Park, one of the most productive safari areas in Africa during the Jun/Oct dry season.
The town also lies on the busy overland safari route between the Victoria Falls
. The main reason to stay here is to take advantage of the low cost accommodation for budget travellers on this route.
In recent years, the town has become increasingly dominated by large mass-market hotels, which are now selling the place as a safari destination in its own right, but which now generate enough visitors to completely overrun the safari areas.SeasonsAccommodationTrips
