is located in the Mara Keekorok
sector of the Maasai Mara
in Southwest Kenya
One of the very first photographic safari lodges to be built in East Africa, this place dates back to the early 1970's, when Kenya first started to gear up to handle packed tourists. The plan was to herd people around the country in an endless stream of minibuses, stopping off at several large facilities such as this.
But whilst the safari world evolved into something rather more exciting and imaginative, here the situation remains largely unchanged.
The lodge does have a relatively pleasant atmosphere for somewhere of its size. The location is good and the management switched on. But the lodge is what it is. As well as the large public areas, there is a pool, spa and other facilities. Guest accommodation is in 99 rooms.
Keekorok Lodge is not the kind of place we tend to recommend very often, but if you are looking for a lower cost safari then you could certainly do a lot worse than stay here.
