is located in the Tarangire
area of Northern Tanzania
Tarangire is a substantial national park which offers a rather more subtle experience than that in the nearby Serengeti
, the wildlife here is no where near as visible, but there is plenty of interest, notably the wonderful baobab trees and a prodigious elephants during the Jun/Nov dry season.
Set in light acacia woodland in the south of the reserve, Kichuguu Camp is a medium specification mobile tented facility which offers a simple but authentic safari experience.
The camp is centred on a pair of open-sided mess tents with lounge and dining areas, leading out to a camp-fire.
Guest accommodation is in eight large guest tents with private indoor bathrooms.
Activities are focused on daytime vehicle safari, with options for balloon safari, walking safari and modest night vehicle safari.
The main potential downsides at Kichuguu Camp are the relative simplicity of the facilities and hosting, the camp is also open to vehicles from other safari companies, that off-road driving is not permitted in some areas, tsetse flies can be a nuisance on occasion, the much lower wildlife numbers during the Dec/May green season and the chances of encountering high vehicle traffic in the core areas along the Tarangire River.
