Treks on Mount Kilimanjaro range from five to eight nights.
Shorter treks tend to have the following advantages and disadvantages ...
+ lower costs
+ lesser chance of simple fatigue
- significantly lower summit success rates
- much lesser altitude acclimatisation
- higher health risks
- busier and less scenic trails
- much higher trekker traffic on the first few days
Five night treks are relatively popular since they fit neatly into a 10 night trek only trip, or a 14 night trek and short safari trip. Obviously they are also lower cost than the longer treks. They tend to appeal to guests who are less than totally confident about their fitness and perhaps less concerned about the challenges of extreme altitude.
We offer the following five night trek ...Rongai 5p
... is a non-technical five night private trek, one of our most popular options. It has a very good summit success rate of 88% and decent traffic avoidance, especially for departures Mon/Tue. The price range is USD 1900-3500 depending on the specification level and the number of trekkers.
