is located in the Mara
sector of the Serengeti
in Northern Tanzania
It is a medium specification mobile tented option set in a remote location in the extreme north of the Serengeti. It is relatively very well priced for this area. The camp offers an authentic safari experience, with animals often passing through camp and is pleasantly small, with just eight guest tents. The camp does not accept vehicles from other safari operators, which can make for a much more intimate atmosphere. The camp is usually accessed by road rather than by air (more common for camps in this area), which means you can stick with the same guide you have had for the rest of your trip.
It is open start July to end October, when the main migration is expected to be within range and this is a major area for river crossings.
Activities include daytime vehicle safari and balloon safari.
The main potential downsides at Kimburu Camp are that the facilities are in some ways rather simple, the simple hosting and food service and, unlike other camps in this area, there is no walking safari. There is no fly-in option at this camp, so out on safari you will be in the same closed vehicle that you have used for the rest of your safari, where most camps in this area operate open vehicles, which some might think of as an advantage. There can also be significant vehicle clustering on migration river crossings and at the airstrip.
Please note that future bookings from June 2016 for this camp may be upgraded to Mara River Post
