is located in the Timbavati Reserve
in the Kruger
area to the Northeast
of South Africa
Set in the centre of the reserve, Kings Camp is a relatively large lodge and offers very high level of conventional comforts. Central areas, which are ranged amongst manicured lawns, include various lounges and dining areas, a small spa and fitness centre, with a small pool out front. Guest accommodation is in eleven luxury suites. There is also the self-contained Waterbuck Lodge, which can be booked by private groups of up to six guests. The service levels are high.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari and walking safari, with a marked leading towards the former. Wildlife viewing in this Timbavati area is reliable year round. The level of guiding here is also strong.
The main potential downsides are the slightly larger size and heavy build of the lodge, plus the potential for adverse weather conditions Nov/Mar. Also, as with almost all the lodges in this area, different groups of guests are joined together on safari activities, unless you pre-book a private vehicle at significant additional cost.
In the Timbavati area the presence of fence lines, overhead telephone cables and road signs does detract significantly from the sense of wilderness, but that is true of almost all of Kruger.SeasonsPrices
