is located in the Kruger
area to the Northeast
of South Africa
Situated to the east of the town of Hoedspruit, this reserve extends for an impressive 425 square kilometres of gently undulating Lowveld acacia scrub, dissected by seasonal rivers. There are no fences between here and the main reserve, ensuring that Klaserie is part of the greater Kruger ecosystem.
This is an up and coming reserve, but one which has really got itself organised well and feels like a relatively pristine stretch of wilderness. It contains a full range of wildlife, with game-viewing approaching the levels associated with other more premium reserves.
Lodges here are very competitively priced compared with those on other better established reserves.Nthambo Tree Camp
... is probably the best lodge in the area, with guest accommodation in just five interesting stilt houses and is reasonably well priced Africa on Foot
... is another interesting option, pleasantly simple, even lower priced and specialising in walking safaris, as the name suggests.
