This is one of a family of camps used by Skeleton Coast Safaris on their flying trips around this remote part of the country, the others being Huab Camp and Leylands Drift Camp
Situated on a rocky rise above the river, this place is remarkably simple by comparison with the luxurious Serra Cafema Camp
a couple of kilometres downstream. The mess is a simple open-sided banda, whilst the rooms are dome tents under shade with separate bathrooms.
Skeleton Coast Safaris is a cool company, which offers one of the most exhilarating and expensive ways of seeing the country. Their trips are not about luxury, they are about full throttle exposure to raw wilderness.
As much as we are open to 'keeping it real', nevertheless Kunene Camp does seem to be so very basic that we frankly find it incredible how they get away with charging so much.
The lodge can only be booked as part of a flying safari package costing well in excess of US$1000 pppn.
