Kunene River Lodge
is located in the Kaokaland East
area in the Northwest
region of Namibia
Situated at Swartbooisdrift, the point where in 1928 the Dorslandtrekkers crossing into Angola, this lodge lies roughly half way between the Epupa and Ruacana Falls.
The lodge is owned and run by Peter and Hillary Morgan. There are 12 chalets and several camp pitches set under riverine forest. At one end lies a shady swimming pool area, whilst at the other is a bar and reasonably high quality restaurant.
A wide range of activities include rafting in the nearby gorge, canoeing, motorboat trips, fishing, visits to Himba village and birding.
Kunene River Lodge is perhaps the best lodge in this area and well worth considering if you intend to drive the Upuwo to Ruacana loop, probably in addition to nights at Epupa.
