... is located in the Great Fish River Reserves area of the Sunshine Coast East in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

+ large private reserve
+ important conservation project
+ alluring landscapes
+ full range of wildlife
+ high quality lodge
+ good range of activities
+ extremely child friendly
+ malaria free

Situated back from the river in open landscapes at the heart of the 20,000 hectare Kwandwe Reserve, this chic lodge has nine guest suites with beautiful baths and plunge pools. Lovely public areas include a cosy lounge, dining areas and sun-decks with a pool. This particular lodge is specifically designed for families with young children and there is no minimum age.

Activities are centred on vehicle safaris by day and night, supplemented by gentle walking safaris, with a full range of wildlife being present. Plus fishing, picnics and historical excursions.

- fenced reserve
- proximity to human habitation
- reclaimed farmland
- rather tame and over-managed
- low visitor traffic
- relatively expensive

Kwandwe Ecca Lodge is a very high-end option, wonderfully presented and hosted, in one of the very best non-malarial safari areas in Africa. It also manages to generate extremely good guests reviews.
