region of Mozambique
The northern portion of that waterfront is a relatively remote and unpopulated area of mountainous forest and gentle shamba farmlands, extremely inconvenient to access from the rest of the country. Just 5km offshore lies the well known Kaya Mawa Lodge
on Likoma Island, which is actually a part of Malawi and is relatively easily accessed by light aircraft charter from Lilongwe.
The lodges in this area therefore tend to be accessed by air from the west and included in trips with other lodges in Malawi and Zambia.Nkwichi Lodge
