Lake Natron Tented Camp
is located in the Lake Natron
area of Northern Tanzania
+ situated in the fabulous Lake Natron area
+ some of the most magnificent scenery in East Africa
+ hiking the active volcano Ol Donyo Lengai
+ viewing the flamingos on Lake Natron
+ swimming in waterfalls
+ lovely owners
- a tough overland journey
- rather simple camp
This relatively simple lodge is located alongside the main dirt track that runs through the area just to the south of Engaresero village, below the Rift Escarpment and looking out across the flats towards the distant lake.
The lodge comprises a single main building containing dining and bar area, a small pool and simple guest tents with private bathrooms.
The reason to endure the tough journey all the way out here is to gain access to some of Tanzania's most dramatic volcanic scenery. From the camp it is possible to walk out onto the soda flats to see the flamingos, swim in local waterfalls and attempt the summit of the active volcano Ol Donyo Lengai.
Lake Natron Camp is actually rather basic in some respects and service levels can vary. But since the tough journey to get here tends to filter out all but the more hardy and outdoorsy types, most find the camp adequate.Prices
