Lalibela Kichaka Lodge

... is located the Amakhala and Shamwari area of Sunshine Coast East in the Eastern Cape of South Africa.

+ large private wildlife reserve
+ significant conservation project
+ non-malarial
+ attractive landscapes
+ full range of wildlife
+ off road driving
+ high quality lodge
+ good range of activities
+ easily accessible
+ wellness centre

The Lalibela Reserve comprises of 75 square kilometres of pretty undulating grasslands, punctuated by steep wooded valleys, well stocked with all the major wildlife species.

Positioned around a large waterhole to the northeast, this lodge has ten luxury thatched suites with aircon and extensive public areas including lounge, dining areas, business and function facilities.

Activities include day and night vehicle safaris, hiking, horse-riding, fishing and astronomy.

- safari here is relatively tame
- fenced reserve
- reclaimed farmland
- proximity of the main N2 highway
- proximity of human habitation
- relatively expensive
- rather commercial atmosphere

Guests do need to appreciate that this area is not truly wild country, but an ongoing project of land rehabilitation. This particular lodge is not related to the others on this reserve and has a distinctly more commercial feeling.

Kichaka Game Lodge is an extremely comfortable place which is tonally similar to some of the lodges on the better known Shamwari Reserve but is considerably lower cost.
