Leopard Rock Hotel
is located in the Eastern Highlands
area of eastern Zimbabwe
Situated within the Bvumba Mountains to the southeast of Mutare, this substantial country house hotel has spectacular views over the surrounding hills and the distant mountains of Mozambique.
Public areas are centred on a very pleasant main building with a bar, lounge and two restaurants, with a floodlit tennis court, gym, squash court and swimming pool as well as a casino and an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Peter Matkovich.
All fifty eight rooms are in a faux French style and are situated within the original 1930's Turret Wing or the new 1993 Casino Wing.
Leopard Rock lies at the heart of a substantial wildlife reserve which contains impalas, wildebeest, zebras, nyalas and kudus. Activities include gentle vehicle safari, horse-back safari and walking trails, as well as trips to the nearby botanical gardens and Mbiga Falls.
Leopard Rock Hotel is one of very few higher quality options in this region. It is perhaps best suited to golfers and is particularly popular as a weekend retreat for the people of Harare.
