Lesotho East

... is a region of Lesotho in South Africa.

The dramatic Sani Pass winds its way up from the Drakensberg SouthKwaZulu Natall to enter the eastern side of Lesotho.

At the head is Sani Top Chalet, supposedly the 'highest pub in Africa' and a popular stop for people starting or ending a road traverse of this mountainous country.

Further north the main A1 highway heads towards the town of Mokhotlong, previously known as the "loneliest place in Africa" and still somewhere which feels very remote indeed.

To the southeast lies the even more remote Sehlabathebe National Park, whilst in the south is the Qacha's Nek border crossing, with some quite obscure accommodation options in both locations.
