Lesotho North
is a region of Lesotho in South Africa.

The Northern part of the country of Lesotho contains the highest and most dramatic mountain ranges.

The main route through the area is the A1 highway, which loops around from Butha Buthe in the west towards Sani Pass in the southeast, via some impressive high-altitude passes.

The other main route is the A25, which heads from the town of Leribe in the west down to the Katse Dam and on towards Sani Pass.

Perhaps the most interesting is a dead-end road that heads into the mountains between these two main routes, 30km to the remote Tsehlanyane Reserve.

Here we find the excellent Maliba Mountain Lodge, probably the best trekking base in the country.
