Lobo Wildlife Lodge
is located in the Northern Sector
of the Serengeti
in Northern Tanzania
This medium specification large permanent lodge is in a dramatic elevated position at the heart of the Lobo area. It has a certain retro appeal and is interestingly built into a kopje, with a particularly nice swimming pool with sweeping views. The heavy build means that it is perhaps best suited to less outdoorsy guests. This is a relatively lower traffic area with reasonably solid game-viewing year round and the main migration usually passing through Jun/Jul and Oct/Nov.
The main potential downsides are that this place is definitely more of a hotel than a safari lodge, the design is very dated and it is very large in size, with around 80 guest rooms. It is therefore inherently low on safari authenticity and most definitely not the classic Serengeti tented camp experience. Activities are limited to daytime vehicle safari only and the lodge is open to vehicles from all safari companies, which further reduces any residual sense of intimacy.UpsidesDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
