is located in the Northern Sector
of South Luangwa National Park
in eastern Zambia
Although we categorise this camp as being in South Luangwa North, in reality it lies in the much smaller Luambe National Park, a little further north, on the east bank of the Luangwa River, where it is the only accommodation facility.
The extremely good value camp is centred on a simple open sided 'chitenge' mess area, with guest accommodation in just four large Meru tents, all ranged along the river bank.
Activities are centred on vehicle safari, night vehicle safari and walking safari, with the camp having virtually exclusive access to the land all around. We have been informed that wildlife viewing is plentiful, although we have not yet been able to experience that for ourselves. Certainly elephants, hippos and other herbivores should be no problem.
The main potential downsides are the possibility that predators that may be a little less accustomed to vehicles and therefore more difficult to find and view at close quarters, plus the relative simplicity of the camp itself. It is also worth noting the extremely high temperatures in Oct/Nov.
