Lufupa River Camp
is located in the Kafue
area of northern Zambia
Generally considered to be a staging post for the camps further north, this part of the park is not without interest.
Dry miombo woodland opens out into small open grasslands known locally as "dambos", where wildlife congregates. Good areas for leopard in particular. Motorboat safari out on the Kafue
river is a real highlight.
This camp is set on the confluence of the Kafue and its tributary the Lufupa, which drains down from the Busanga Plains.
Although it only has seven guest tents, it is situated adjacent to Lufupa Tented Camp
, with a further nine tents. Nevertheless, the atmosphere remains suitably intimate thanks to the remoteness of the setting.
Lufupa River Camp is booked heavily by certain group departure safaris, which can make it tough to get availability for private group bookings.
No longer operated by Wilderness Safaris.
