is located in the Okavango Khwai River
area of the Okavango Delta
in northern Botswana
It is a very comfortable permanent tented option, beautifully situated alongside the Khwai River. The wildlife viewing here can be very strong during the Jun/Oct dry season, with a special reputation for elephants, lions, leopards, spotted hyenas and wild-dogs. The camp itself offers a really high quality and authentic safari experience at a relatively low price. It also welcomes children of all ages.
The main potential downsides at Machaba Camp are the fact that you are likely to encounter significant vehicle traffic whilst out on safari, with vehicle clusters on major sightings, which considerably reduces any sense of wilderness. There is also likely to be much weaker wildlife viewing during the Nov/Apr green season and the potential for flood failure some years.UpsidesActivitiesDiningDownsidesSeasonsPricesTrips
